X is stepping into the video conferencing arena with its latest feature, "X Conference," as part of its broader strategy to become an all-encompassing app.

This new tool is in the testing phase and is positioned as a direct competitor to established platforms like Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams.

The development of X Conference was shared by X employee Chris Park, who posted about the internal testing on the platform. According to Park, the tool currently offers basic multi-person video conferencing features but lacks the advanced functionalities seen in more mature services like Zoom.

However, Park hinted at upcoming enhancements for X Conference, including the ability to pin speakers and improved notifications. He suggested that these additions would make the tool a strong competitor against popular platforms like Google Hangouts, AWS Chime, and Microsoft Teams.

Earlier in the month, app researcher Nima Owji also provided insights into the development of X Conference, sharing that the platform might support spatial audio and built-in captions. While these features could enhance the user experience, it remains to be seen whether they will be enough to differentiate X Conference in a market already saturated with video conferencing tools.
